Share This article describes the typical steps involved in getting started with Mercury. As prerequisites, you will need a Sitecore Commerce environment where the Mercury e-commerce website will be set up.

You need to perform the following steps to set up Mercury:

• Get the Mercury Starter Kit
• Update your catalog structure and place the catalog file in a predefined location
• Configure the Mercury Starter Kit installation scripts
• Run the Mercury Starter Kit installation scripts on your website's environment
• Build and publish the Mercury website
• Browse the Mercury website

Get the Mercury Starter Kit

The starter kit contains a Mercury e-commerce website that can be used as the starting point for your solution. Included in the starter kit is a set of installation scripts and build tasks. The installation scripts will set up your Sitecore Commerce environment for Mercury and the build tasks will do typical build and post tasks e.g. build and publish the site, synchronize Mercury content, and re-index the website.

Update your catalog structure and place in import location

Several Mercury components and features require specific product information to be present in your catalog. Update your catalog per the Mercury definitions and place your catalog import file in a predefined import location. The catalog will be imported as part of the installation scripts.

Configure Mercury Starter Kit installation scripts

To set up your Sitecore Commerce environment for Mercury the installation scripts need to be run. Some variables in the installation scripts need to be configured first, so the scripts point to your environment. Variables like database server, Sitecore website location, and Commerce application name need to be configured as well.

Run Mercury Starter Kit installation scripts

After configuring the variables in the installation scripts, these can be run against your environment. These will configure the Commerce site, Commerce databases, Mercury databases and import your catalog.

Build and publish the Mercury website

After the environment is configured, you are just a single click away from your fully functional Mercury e-commerce website. Run the build task of the solution. This will start building the website and publish this to your environment. After publishing the website some post tasks will be done, e.g. Sitecore content syncing and a re-index of your website.

Browse the Mercury website

After the previous steps are completed you can view the Mercury website in your browser. Happy browsing!
