What personal data do we process?
We process the following personal data.
First and last names, address, city, telephone number, gender, email address, participation details (events and/or meetings), areas of interest (for example, ‘tech’ or ‘business’), job title, contact history, IP address, social ID, cookie ID (you can read more about cookies in our cookie statement) and browsing behaviour.
Why do we process this personal data?
We process your personal data for the following purposes.
Customer administration and services
We keep track of which organisations are customers of Mercury E-commerce and maintain a record of relevant contacts for customer administration. We retain the personal data of our contacts so that we can optimally serve our customers; for example, by holding your contact details, we can easily reach you; by noting your areas of interest, we can provide you with the best possible information; and by processing personal data and participation details, we can plan our meetings and events as efficiently as possible.
You can reach us through various channels, including phone, post and email as well as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. We also process personal data to make these communications possible.
Newsletters and mailings
You can sign up with us for various newsletters. These publications are sometimes personalised. If you no longer wish to receive newsletters, you can unsubscribe via the link provided in each email.
Recruitment and marketing
As we are an active commercial company within the e-commerce industry, we recruit new customers, prospects, event participants, experts for inspiration sessions and sometimes colleagues. To maintain contact with all these parties, we process their contact details and areas of interest.
We use personal data for recruitment drives and related campaigns and events too. This data includes IP address, cookie ID, social ID and/or browsing behaviour. We do this so that we can show the most relevant advertisements or messages in the right places.
This data is also important for us because we target specific groups via social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. These platforms may display personalised advertising. However, we shall not pass on any personal data to third parties for this purpose unless you have given us your express consent to do so. If you do not want our personalised advertisements to be shown to you via these platforms, you can contact us (details provided above). You can also unsubscribe from these platforms. You can read how to do this on these pages:
Please note that you may still see non-personalised Mercury E-commerce advertisements if you fall into one of our general target group categories.
Improvement of services
We also keep personal data to improve our services. For example, we track click behaviour on the websites to analyse which articles are read the most and open rates to see if our emails are relevant.
We process personal data regarding gender. This allows us to address a person as ‘Mr’ or ‘Ms’.
Everyone has various rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which we do our best to comply with. If you have any advice or comments, please let us know. Should you wish to exercise your rights regarding your personal data, please contact us at email@example.com or +31 717 107 472.
Information and access
Naturally, you can access your personal data and find out which aspects we process. We shall be happy to tell you more about how and why we process this data.
Do you think your personal data might be incorrect? Let us know so that we can make the necessary corrections.
You can request that we delete the personal data we have about you. However, we may still have to process this data for other purposes (administration or deduplication, for example).
If you believe we are using your personal data unlawfully or incorrectly, you may request restrictions on such use.
You can lodge an objection to the processing of your personal data. If you do not want your data to be used, we shall stop processing it as soon as possible.
Under the GDPR, you have the right to transfer (or instruct others to transfer) your personal data. If you want to transfer your data, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or on +31 717 107 472. You can also withdraw consent or file a complaint.
You might no longer want to receive newsletters by email and therefore wish to withdraw your consent. If this is the case, you can unsubscribe from our newsletters. If you want to refuse permission for other forms of personal data use, please contact us.
File a complaint
If you believe we are not acting in accordance with privacy legislation, please let us know. You can notify the Dutch Data Protection Authority about incorrect application of privacy legislation via this form.
We do not store personal data for longer than is necessary.
Basis of processing
